Position:           Junior Buyer

Company:         JK Foods

Hours:              42.5 hours per week (exc breaks)

Shift Pattern:    Monday – Friday 8am – 5.30pm

Salary:              Dependant on skills and experience

Location:          Nottingham (Office Based)

Start date:        ASAP   

The Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for a junior buyer to join our team at JK Foods Head Office in Nottingham.

 

The Role:

Working for one of the UK’s largest importers and distributors of foods from Asia and the Far East, supplying the Chinese wholesale, restaurant and takeaway market throughout the UK, this is a real opportunity for someone who loves a challenge, and for someone who is 100% committed to putting the time and effort into their development and progression. Key Result Areas, Tasks and Main Duties:

  • Negotiating prices with suppliers for product lines
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, deal with and contact suppliers daily
  • Negotiating terms, stock availability and stockholdings within your categories.
  • Review sales to interpret customer needs and react to any changes.
  • Review stock on a daily basis for stock ordering purposes
  • Reviewing and completing paperwork for overseas orders
  • Build and maintain key relationships with the supply base in order to achieve maximum flexibility and reliability
  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach to product quality e.g. identifying and resolving issues early on
  • Work with the warehouse Management team & Goods in to ensure accurate and timely information is shared in regards to inbound stock and any product quality issues are escalated to the supplier.
  • Carry out any other reasonable and necessary duties within your role and as required by your manager.

 

The Candidate – Skills & Experience required:

Experience:

  • Previous Buying experience advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Oriental ethnic food advantageous.
  • Be able to work on own initiative and be adaptable
  • Confidence as working a part of a team and independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Have experience in stock control & stock ordering
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
  • Good time management, prioritisation, negotiation & organisational skills
  • The ability to perform under pressure
  • Proven numeracy skills including budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel to at least an intermediate level.
  • Language skills Mandarin and Cantonese advantageous.
